Schindler 330A Hydraulic Elevator with HT Fixtures @ The Pool @ Harrah's Resort Atlantic City, NJ
Taking a ride on a two-stop Schindler 330A hydraulic elevator with vandal resisant HT fixtures inside the Pool at Harrah's Resort, Atlantic City, NJ.
This elevator is designated "Car 39" and has a capacity of 4000 pounds and serves floors designated as "*1" and "2". The first floor served the pool area and locker rooms, and the second floor served the mezzanine deck above the pool area and the sun deck located outside and adjacent to the dome above the pool. The 330A package is a reasonable choice based on the water table in this area, as this is presumably a twin-post holeless installation.

    The elevator videos have returned! First off, you’re a better person than I am for not looking inside the motor room haha. But assuming you’re still in the trade it’s likely nothing you haven’t seen before though. Also this could be one of the few instances in Atlantic City of a public elevator and the service elevator being directly next to each other. I never did understand that Braille labeling system of saying main for the main level instead of the number of the actual floor. Even as a Braille reader just always seemed odd to me. Lastly, I have a somewhat random question. I wanted to ask if you have a video of the service elevators in the Ocean Tower of Caesars? Those elevators have since been modernized, but the original elevators were Westinghouse and had some pretty rare fixtures and I think lanterns as well.

    Sorry, felt like my first comment was getting too long. I wanted to say thanks again for the extremely detailed description. You might be the only creator who puts that much time into describing the visuals of your video which I really really appreciate. Did this place have low rise elevators or was it like the Taj Mahal where it was numbered higher For whatever reason? Also, I like to think that you kept those key cards as well as those papers and anything else you could find in the room with the “Trump Plaza” name on it lol.

      You're welcome for the descriptions, in fact it was one of your videos where you asked a companion "what does the cab look like," or something like that, which made me realize that my videos are lacking narration elements. I also worked carefully on the captions and made sure to include things like "[Otis audible signal chime]" at the appropriate moments. The main tower only had one bank of elevators, and apparently omit floors 8 through 13, which is also mirrored in the service elevators. I was being facetious about selling anything on eBay. I kept every curio that wasn't bolted down.

    Awesome, just awesome! I think this is the best footage of these elevators on line. Happy you got footage of the hallways and lobby to as there’s not much footage of that either. I’m hoping that you also got a video of the east tower as well as the garage? I hope that the east tower will reopen one day as some sort of small hotel but unfortunately, I doubt it. A few questions. Did you ever film the service elevators in either tower? Second question, is this the tower that had that glass elevator? If you type in Trump Plaza Elevator on RUclips, you can find a very poor quality video and Otis series 4 floor passing chime in the background Which claims to be from Trump Plaza. Thanks again for this video!

    • @EscalatorsDotCo
      @EscalatorsDotCo 2 месяца назад

      No problem! These elevators were in the now demolished main tower. As the video implies, yes, I did ride a service elevator and recorded it on this trip. That will be featured in an upcoming video. The East Tower was blocked off when I visited, but I was able to ride car TE7, a two stop hydro. It was much like the "secret" elevator to the Claridge bus station. It was readily accessible to the public, but in a spot where escalators presented a more convenient route for ambulatory guests that might not even notice it existed. It had service elevator signage posted from 1999 warning how many coins were the maximum to put in a cart before loading the cab. I found and watched the video you're referring to, and it does appear to be shot from an observation elevator in the East Tower, facing west, based on the unique terraced parking garage in the foreground and other buildings visible in background of the vista. Unfortunately, I didn't get deep into the East Tower on this visit, and likely never will.

    • @Dwall44
      @Dwall44 2 месяца назад

      @@EscalatorsDotCo interesting, can’t wait for the video of the Service Elevators! That small hydro sounds interesting as well. I’m sure there was an employee passageway somewhere that could’ve taken you to the East Tower, but even if you got there, I’m sure at that point the elevators were switched off given that the main entrance to it was blocked off from the general public And the place was about to close. I find it interesting how the East Tower is still standing, apparently it has a 99 year lease with the rainforest Café, which is on the boardwalk, taking up that section of either the first or second floor. The garage is still standing as well. I believe they were actually charging people to park there as a sort of public garage for a while after the casino closed, but is now abandoned. Even at that point I believe the elevators were switched off. What is the garage your referring to in the East Tower video? The regular Plaza garage or something else? Regardless, I’m happy there’s at least one video of those elevators. I’ll be it not a great one.

    • @EscalatorsDotCo
      @EscalatorsDotCo 2 месяца назад

      I was just validating the East Tower elevator video. The parking garage for the Trump Plaza is prominently in the foreground. The parking garage has a unique terraced shape. That is, the ground floor is the largest. Around the 7th floor, the structure gets concentrically smaller, then same around the 9th floor. I'm not knowledgeable about the details of the Rainforest Cafe's lease, but I suppose that would make some sense. The East Tower was originally a free-standing Holiday Inn before it was purchased and merged into the Trump Plaza in 1993, but all of the NJ DCA elevator records suggest that the building was modernized in 1983. Subsequent to the demolition of the main tower, the original building entrance was revealed, and can still be seen on the west side street level.

However, what you thought was an apostrophe was likely a capital sign as they’re pretty similar, and in similar parts of the braille cell.

    • @EscalatorsDotCo
      @EscalatorsDotCo 3 месяца назад

      Thank you for correcting me. I've updated the description in the video. As you might guess from my mistake, I'm not fluent with braille, but I know some basics and contractions that pertain to standard elevator placards. I watched several of your videos, and I saw in your channel description that you like to find these kind of oddities, so I'm glad you enjoyed this. One thing I've always wondered, is about how the front and rear "door open" and "door close" buttons are distinguished, as they both usually appear to read OP'EN' and CLOSE in braille.

    • @Dwall44
      @Dwall44 3 месяца назад

      @@EscalatorsDotCo thanks for checking out my channel! I appreciate that. Glad you liked it. You'll probably like a lot of the throwback videos that will be coming soon. I explored several elevators off the beaten paths in the casino hotels. According to NJ DCA records, the device is still "active", however Atlantic City enforces elevator safety locally, so it may in fact be permanently out of service and/or "red tagged" at this time. Ironically I think it would be harder to explore the Claridge now that it's not owned by Caesars, as the new operators seem to be more hands-on with this building (for example, finishing the rooftop bar).

      Otis Gen2 elevators are equipped with a load sensor that allows the elevator controller to determine what is "too many". If a person weighing 150 lbs (70 kg) gets on and presses one or two buttons, that would likely be considered OK. But if the same person pressed four buttons, that would likely be considered "too many". Likewise if three persons each weighing 150 lbs (450 lbs or 210kb) get on, and press 4 buttons, that would likely be OK, but if there are 7 buttons pressed, that would likely be "too many".

Unfortunately, at least 8-10 videos from the Showboat, and a few others, are apparently still lost forever (although I've still got the corrupt data files on the hopes that I'll figure it out eventually). Once I run out of weekly videos from 2024, I'll begin posting "throwback Thursday" and "flashback Friday" content. You will not want to miss some of these - you've been asking for them!

      awesome, can’t wait! As someone who is currently in school for IT, I can say that not all of those video reEncoder /recovery programs work the same. Maybe if you can find another free one or something you may be able to recover more or all of the remaining corrupt video files. Still looking forward to what you’ve found though.

      Thanks for the suggestion! I can't promise any specific future trip there at this moment, but the Ocean is a nice hotel, and I would love to go back some time soon.

      @@EscalatorsDotCo also idk if you remember but the waterfront tower, the high rise bank…started with 4 elevators and then they added a 5th a few months later. Strange they wouldn’t start with 5 lol

      @@Dwall44 the waterfront tower…when it opened around 2008 the highrise bank had 4 elevators. About 6month to a year in they started building a 5th elevator to the bank. Clearly, there was space in the shaft that they were not using for it.

    I remember these being really rickety back around 2014 or 2015-ish

      Are these the Westinghouse ones or the Fujitec ones?

    I think this might be the longest stream yet.
